The Chained Edit

"Through the bond we are enslaved, through our chains we earn freedom."

Once known as the Bonded, the slaves of the Cartel changed much since what has come to be called the Reformation. Within the Cartel the Chained serve as the downtrodden workers and the bound performers. Unpaid and rarely respected in full, they are the silent muscle that allows the Cartel to survive in the hardest of times. Even though they are seen as lesser, some of the truest heroes of the Ashenfold were once accounted among the Chained.

Strengths The Chained are perhaps in the worst position when it comes to power within the Cartel, however they do have one indisputable strength and that being no one cares if they are there. Slaves, although they are not likely to know everything, are often privy to whatever their owner's know through sheer presence. They are also quite afforded quite a bit of freedom which allows them to cross lines often ignored by other Sects.

Weakness Chained are at the beck and call of their owners and this places them in a very precarious position. Even if they are skilled individuals or honorable warriors, the Chained are required to respect and follow the orders of those that own their debt without question. In this regard they are perhaps one of the weakest of the Sects.

Tiers and PricingEdit

Slaves gain "rank" or Tier by being evaluated in an action that many call the "Bond Exam". During the evaluation the Chained in question is sized up, their skills tested, their bodily status checked which will hopefully result in an increase in price and therefore worth. The truth is that the Tier for a slave means that they are not only better trained, but that they are more valuable. A bond exam for each proceeding tier may only be administred by a Slaver that is a Tier above. Thus it follows this pattern.

Evaluation from Tier 1 to Tier 2 is conducted by a Brandsman. Evaluation from Tier 2 to Tier 3 is conduced by an Overseer. The Slavemaster may change the tier of any slave, either up or down, as he or she sees fit. A Chain may be raised to Tier 2 or 3 if a panel of three Trainers agree the Slave has increased their worth. Slave Pricing and Auctions The pricing of a slave within the Cartel depends upon their physical health, their current Tier, and the skills they display. A Tier 3 slaves with a scarred face as a Courtesan fetches a lower price than a prettier one. However, as a means to keep control on pricing the Crown has entered a base price for all slaves based upon Tier.

They are as followed:

  • Tier 1 = 30 Silver
  • Tier 2 = 45 Silver
  • Tier 3 = 60 Silver

Please note that slaves cost in game currency which is then donated to the guild.

Auctions and PriceingEdit

The pricing for a Chained when auction is often much cheaper than their base price. For this reason, it is always smarter to usually purchase a slaves when auctioned as a greater chance at gaining one is evident. The downside is that auctions always have a possible higher price with the nature of the auction itself. All tranasctions must be approved by the Slavemaster.

Base auction prices are as followed.

  • Tier 1 = 15 Silver
  • Tier 2 = 23 Silver
  • Tier 3 = 30 Silver

The base bid increase in auction is no less than five silver.

Auctions are always conducted by a Slaver (usually on the forums or in game when prudent). The auction in general will end when the other bidders give up or if it has a time limit whoever has gained the highest bid when the limit ends. When the auction is over a time will be schedule for the winning bid to be paid to the Cartel and then the slave will be given to their new owner.
